Web and multimedia design involves the user in an online or multimedia presentation. Graphic design, navigation, computer animation, and video are combined to produce a “total Waterloo experience”. These mediums often replace or assist in enhancing the limited capabilities of print material.

WHAT WE OFFER
The scope of web and multimedia projects can be as simple as the design of a few visual elements for your website, or as complex as a complete website package, encompassing organization, design and navigation, copywriting, animation, online forms, databases, programming, and hosting. Another option is to have us design your home page and a matching template for additional levels. In any case, we'll provide a unique design that respects our University guidelines.

If you need a Waterloo home page banner we offer custom banner design and photography. The banners can be animated or still shots. We also offer a few stock home page banners which cost $40.00 each.

Web motion or Flash graphics, possibly including video and audio, can be added to enhance a site and provide additional interactive features. Other multimedia solutions include video, DVDs, and CD ROMs.

THE PROCESS
At the consultation meeting we'll discuss the project objectives and target audience, and possible solutions that take into account your budget and deadline. Once the budget and project direction have been established, the designer(s) will proceed to work with you to clarify the information hierarchy and users' needs. We'll present design concepts and an information map to visually describe the project solution. Once the concept is approved, the home page will be created as well as additional links to further establish the design direction. At this point we recommend testing the site/presentation with several users. We'll implement the remainder of the project and finalize technical issues with the assistance of our own technical support experts. Alternatively, we can transfer the files to your department for completion.
